David K. Herzer

David Herzer is president of Herzer Financial Services, Inc., a private money lender and mortgage fund management company that originates and services private real estate acquisition and development loans, construction loans, bridge loans, consumer residential and commercial loans in northern California. David has served as a licensed real estate broker since 1985. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

David is actively involved with California Mortgage Association (CMA), the trade association for private real estate lenders. He has served on its board of directors for many years,  is chair of the CMA website committee and is a member of the nominating and finance committees. He has also served on educational panels for CMA and the California Association of Mortgage Professionals (CAMP).

In addition, David is a member of the board of directors for the CK Foundation, former director of the Menlo Park Rotary Club and contributes to the Berkeley Food Project, Rebuilding Together, the UC Berkeley Disabled Students Program and several other charities.

David lives in Marin with his wife and two children. He enjoys drumming, mountain biking, skiing and water skiing when he is not injured.

Jesse Alvarado

Jesse Alvarado has been employed by HFS since 1980 and is currently the vice president. He earned his Real Estate Salesperson License in 1979, and has four decades of experience in the lending and mortgage industry. Jesse has an Associate in Arts degree from the College of San Mateo, California and has attended numerous continuing education courses and California Mortgage Association seminars. Jesse currently lives with his family in Foster City, California.

Marty Mackowski

Marty Mackowski works as Adviser Emeritus to Herzer Financial Services, Inc. (HFS). Marty has worked with HFS since 1999.  Previously, Marty ran his own mortgage company, Vista Funding Company, for 10 years. He also owned a Tae Kwon Do studio, and has been a Tae Kwon Do instructor for over 20 years. Marty has served as a public school educator and has held an active Real Estate Broker’s License since 1988. He is a graduate of Villanova University, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Marty is a former chairman of Ducks Unlimited, a non-profit organization dedicated to wetlands restoration, and is a volunteer in Stanford’s Partner in Caring program. Marty lives in Portola Valley, California with his wife.

Nancy Gann

Nancy Gann is the escrow officer at the HFS, where she has served since 1999. Prior to joining, Gann worked with Marty Mackowski at Vista Funding Company for 4 years. She has held a Real Estate Salesperson License for since 2005 and has 25 years of experience in the lending and mortgage industry. Nancy has taken classes at Canada College in Redwood City, California and the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Nancy holds a current Notary Public Commission with the State of California. Along with her continuing education courses, she has also attended several classes for loan servicing and originating and numerous seminars held for the mortgage industry. Nancy currently lives in Redwood City, California with her family.

Patrick B. Cheng

Patrick Cheng joined the Manager on October 2017 and is currently the Loan Servicing Manager. He has held a Real Estate Salesperson License since 2007 and has over 15 years of experience in the lending and mortgage industry. Patrick is a graduate from Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, has taken classes at College of San Mateo, Canada College in Redwood City as well as Cal-State Hayward. He also holds a current Notary Public Commission with the State of California. Patrick speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin, he grew up in San Mateo, California where he still resides with his wife and son.

Bill Lercari

Bill Lercari has been affiliated with Herzer Financial Services since 1991 and specializes in construction lending.  Bill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley,  he has professional experience performing residential and commercial property valuations for lenders, government agencies and attorneys.   Bill has been a licensed real estate broker since 1985 and has development and construction management experience building custom homes in the Lake Tahoe and Sacramento regions.   Bill lives in Truckee, California with his family and spends his leisure time skiing, bike riding, hiking and gardening   Bill is experienced in ultramarathon and enjoys volunteering at trail racing events in Northern California.

Joe McNulty, M.B.A.

Joe McNulty, is a Senior Loan Officer at HFS.  In addition to being a licensed Real Estate Broker, he has over 20 years experience in the lending and mortgage industry.  Joe has an undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island and an M.B.A. from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He has personally been invested in ground-up construction and rehab projects over the years.  He enjoys all of the intricacies involved in private lending. Joe speaks French and Spanish, enjoys travelling, running, and rooting for his beloved Chelsea Football Club and of course the Golden State Warriors.  He has coached youth soccer teams in the Bay Area for over 10 years.
